The Netflix original series "Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C. J. Walker" is dedicated to the legendary Sarah Breedlove better known as Madam C. J. Walker, the first self-made millionaire in America. Madam created a line of African American hair products for women of color who suffered from hair loss.

The series is based on Madam's original biography "On Her Own Ground" by A'Leila Bundles. Written by Nicole Jefferson Asher and executive produced by LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Sherman Barrois and Kasi Lemmons.

The cast for this series is phenomenal! Octavia Spencer plays Madam C. J. Walker while Blair Underwood plays C. J. Walker. Tiffany Haddish plays Madam's daughter and there's no role more perfect for her. Once you watch the series, it's like witnessing #blackexcellence unfold. You see a glimpse of how Madam built her business from the ground up and how she handled challenges, including opposition from her competitors.

The series exemplifies a women that had a problem, created a solution and built her a business off of a vision that would carry on through many generations. A quote that stood out from the third episode is when she told C. J. Walker, "Do not go back to what broke you". You would have to watch the series to see what happened next because that is when things got interesting :)

Self Made shows the epitome of a strong African American women fighting for something that she believes in, not only for herself, but for women across the world. Definitely a ten out of ten, must-see!
