We all have those moments when we've either been invited out with friends or asked out on a date. Whatever the situation may be, it's important to buy and wear clothes that are appropriate and trendy for any occasion. We've known some people to cancel plans because they didn't know what to wear or which pieces to put together from their closets.
So, we've listed a few things that you should think about whenever you get frustrated trying to choose a outfit.
1.
What’s the occasion?
It’s important that you understand where you’re going, unless you're a fashion rebel! Let’s say that you are going to a birthday party at the bowling alley. Now, what do people typically do at a bowling alley? They bowl, meaning they’re changing out of their shoes to put on these bowling shoes which are not appealing at all. Therefore, if you know that you'll be active, it’s okay if you go in a vibrant top or cool sweatshirt with some jeans. However, never go basic! Find a shirt with a cool vibrant graphic design on it. Some jeans or even shorts with a vibrant color is acceptable (applies to casual outings), it’s okay to try neutral colors as well but remember no basics!

Don’t worry about what your friends are wearing.
When we are invited out, the first thing we wonder or ask is what the other person is wearing. NO! Don’t worry about what Susie the most popular girl in school is wearing or what your best friend Ed is wearing. Your friend's outfit should not determine what you wear. Remember there is only one you, therefore your style and someone else’s style can be totally different. You should not be so co-dependent on their opinion, or else you will start to look like them! And you don't want to be known as someone's copycat. This is the perfect opportunity for you to practice creating your own style. See what mood you are in at the time and see if it matches light/happy colors or dark/gloomy colors. Also make sure that you are adding some type of accessory to the outfit. It could be a cool watch or necklace! Either way exercise your creative senses, you must activate them and by thinking on your own in situations like these you can!
3.
Be YOU.
Sometimes going on a date can be nerve wrecking especially if it’s an attractive person that you’re interested in. That doesn’t mean that you must dress up like Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” or like Harry Styles in his marvelous Gucci suits. It’s okay for you ladies to go out in a nice blouse and jeans with heels or a cute dress. If you’re not a big fan of heels a nice platform sandal will do the trick. For you guys, a nice sweater or shirt with a pair of light or dark jeans, nothing too baggy but not hanging off your butts, with some dope sneakers or loafers. Remember adding accessories is a bonus! Depending on the occasion or event, you should wear something that is appropriate as well as comfortable, don’t force it. Let it come naturally.
4.
You don’t have to break your wallet to look good.
Yes, you want to keep up with the fashion trends all of us do but some of us got to ball on a budget. That’s fine because you wouldn’t believe how many cheap stores carry good quality pieces. Even the thrift stores, yes, the thrift stores have great pieces that are fashionable and trendy. Places such as H&M or Forever 21 (our personal favs) even Fashion Nova which has a men's section now. Plato’s Closet is a popular store where you can buy clothes that are name brand for a low price. Trust me we all want to look like Beyoncé or P. Diddy on our birthdays but there is a way to do it without spending your last.
