So you may have read our previous posts where we've talked about different types of outfits to wear to different occasions and wonder but how do I know if that style is for me? Right? So we are hear to tell you first hand that finding your style takes practice and trying new things. How would you know if something works for you if you've never tried it?
As a stylist and fashion enthusiast, I found my style by reading magazines and wanting to try new things. Before, when I was in High school, I would let my mother and brother decide what I would wear and the type of accessories I would pair with it. Then after a while my mom and brother decided that it was time that I learn how to style myself.
Meanwhile, they already had their separate unique styles, so I was scared because I figured I would go out looking crazy if I were to dress myself.
Eventually, I decided to give it a try and found that my style was a bit different than others. Here are 3 things to do when finding your unique style:
1.
Research different color palettes
See which colors are in your favor and if you like dark, light, or bold colors. I am the type of person to rock all types of bold colors and patterns. I would also wear more medium to dark colors when I go shopping or if I’m going to an event. Therefore, you would need to go to the mall and analyze what colors you seem attracted to, light or dark.
2.
Download Pinterest.
Pinterest will be your best friend only because they have many dope mood boards and fashion aesthetic pictures that would give you a ton of inspiration. Every time I’m preparing a mood board for a client, Pinterest is my go-to app! Just type in any type of fashion you want to try such as: 70's fashion, editorial fashion, vintage fashion aesthetics, etc.
3.
Know your body type.
As a stylist, it is important for us to conduct a consultation before we acquire a new client. This is because we would need to know what the client’s body type is, the measurements, and height. A lot of people are a bit curvier than others, so it is important that you would get clothes to compliment the person’s figure. Same as if you were to style a slimmer person, you would get clothes that compliments their figure. It’s sometimes a bad idea to get clothes too tight or too loose for a person with the opposite body type.
Consider these three things and I guarantee that you will find your style with consistent practice and an open mind.
@josue_susan Yes body type is super important and you would learn to love your body more that way! Thank you for reading!
Number 3 was on point. what works for some doesn't work for everyone else. knowing body type is important.
