Y’all remember back in the 2000s when Kimora Lee Simmons launched her first ever fashion line BabyPhat? I mean how can we forget the sassy cat?? Talk about nostalgia. Well, as you’ve probably heard that Simmons parted ways with the brand back in 2010 because she was spending a hefty amount of money on leisure activities and giving herself a large amount of pay from the parent company (honestly, same) So, she was removed from the role as creative director of BabyPhat. Kimora then went on to launch her KLS collection right before becoming the president and creative director for JustFab, which is a personalized shopping website.
Fast-forward to 2019 and here we are about to witness the official re-launch of BabyPhat! It’s been decades since we‘ve seen or heard of the brand and what better way to do this relaunch than with Forever 21? The smooth transition back onto the surface is everything that needs to happen for Simmons and the brand.
Of course with the major changes that has happened in the fashion industry since the 2000s, the demand in creative direction is totally different. But, you know what? I wouldn’t mind prancing around in a two-piece BabyPhat outfit this summer! So, bring on the jumpsuits and tanks Simmons. This collaboration with Forever 21 is the smart and most effective way to reach a fresh new audience!
The relaunch is set to happen today!
