"Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host" -Maya Angelou
Holding on to hate in your heart is like you drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.
Forgive: to cease to feel resentment against (an offender)
Forgiveness can often times seem like a privilege that the person who wronged you does not deserve, but in all actuality the forgiveness is not for them, it is for you... yes, You! When you fail to let go of the pain in your life, it causes bitterness and bondage to the pain of the past, and you carry it along with you for the rest of your life (cue "Bag lady" by Erykah Badu). Although the offender does not deserve to be excused, excusing them is necessary in order to experience true healing and successfully live your life.
The truth is, the pain you feel today will be the strength you feel tomorrow from healed pain.
Don't allow bitterness to cause you to miss out on the blessings in your life!
